Basic results obtained from the research into screw propeller hydroacoustic noise at the Brodarski Institute, Zagreb, Croatia, in the seventies and eighties are presented. Cavitation, rotation, and vortex noise, and propeller singing are considered. The results relate to full- and model-scale, as well as empirical and theoretical models.
